Electronic Medical Records

Electronic Health Records | EHR System

Accurate diagnosis and prognosis are the bedrock of providing effective healthcare. That is the key reason why maintaining accessible and precise Electronic Health Records (EHR) is critical to ensure that the patients get the right care at the right time.

SoftClinic GenX Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system has been designed to help you centrally create and manage real-time patient records. With data collection, aggregation, and maintenance becoming more efficient, healthcare specialists can use more comprehensive data to provide precise curative and preventive treatment to each patient.

Your healthcare institution can leverage the clinical data in the context of each patient’s profile to personalize treatment-plans and enhance the relationship you have with the patients. With the dynamic User Interface, SoftClinic GenX EHR will ensure that all your healthcare records are maintained and available to you right when you need them.

Electronic medical records: common questions

What is the difference between an EMR and an EHR?

An EMR (electronic medical record) is the digital patient chart used inside a single practice or hospital. An EHR (electronic health record) is built so that record can also be shared with other providers treating the same patient. SoftClinic GenX is used for both: it holds the chart your own clinicians work in day to day, and makes that record available where care continues elsewhere. Our EMR readiness guide for Indian hospitals works through the distinction in more detail.

Which clinics and hospitals is SoftClinic GenX EMR built for?

It is used by general practitioners, physicians, surgeons and gynaecologists, and by nursing homes and both small and large-scale hospitals. The same record set scales from a single-doctor clinic to a multi-department hospital, so a practice does not have to migrate systems as it grows. For a clinic-only deployment see clinic management software; for a full hospital see hospital management software.

How quickly can a doctor write a prescription?

Patient details are captured in the OPD and IPD modules and a prescription is generated in under 60 seconds. Prescriptions can be produced in regional languages, and pre-defined certificate templates cover the routine paperwork that follows a consultation.

Which modules are included in the EMR, and which are optional?

Included are the appointment scheduler, patient registration, the clinical modules, IPD, accounting, the reporting module, the data analysis module and media. Pharmacy, laboratory and radiology, insurance claim management, human resource management and advance accounting are available as optional modules, so a clinic pays for the scope it actually runs.

Can more than one person work in the patient record at the same time?

Yes. The EMR is compatible with multi-user and LAN setups, so reception, consulting rooms and billing can work in the same record concurrently. Backup and restoration are embedded in the system rather than being a separate procedure.

Does the patient record connect to billing?

Yes. The billing and accounts manager sits at the same touchpoint where the patient record is created, so a consultation, its investigations and its charges stay on one record instead of being re-entered into a separate billing system.
